World largest food allergy study launched

An international study into food allergies has been launched which hopes to establish a standardized approach to allergen management for companies involved in food manufacturing.

The three-yaer project, led by the University of Manchester and funded by the European Comission, will involve experts from across the world, including the UK, Europe and the US.

The project – Integrated Approaches to Food Allergen an Allergy Risk Management (iFAAM) – also aims to develop tools to inform new health advice to prevent the development of food allergies.
